Chips Fly at Local Races!

Before I get to Clarksburg, I need to make note of some spectacular race results from the prior weekend.

First off, Eric Johnson went to the My Sisters' House 5k with a mission to break 17:00. Unfortunately, he came up a few seconds short but still ran away with an overall win! His 17:04 is even more impressive considering he was running all alone since the second place runner was a full 25-seconds back! The next Chip in looks like Ernest Takahashi, running just over 21-minutes and finishing first Super Senior.

Secondly, Mark Lantz tried out the short 30K distance at the Helen Klein Ultra Classic and found it to his liking. He ran a swift 1:59, earning first place and setting a new course record in the process! Meanwhile, in the longer 50 mile race, Rena Schumann showed us she knows how it's done by running a solid 7:49 and finishing 2nd female! The next Bisonette in appears to be Barbara Ashe (9:12), followed by Barbara Elia (9:47). Jose Rodarte finished what I believe to be only his 2nd 50 miler (10:19) while co-worker Diane Vlach probably finished her second 50 miler of the week (10:30). There are rumors of Western States 100 applications being filled out and rushed to the post office...

Finally, at Apple Hill John Nichols dug deep for a 4th place overall finish in 52:41 on that hilly course, scoring another credit in the ongoing Nichols/Murray running and smack-talking competition. Murray was the 2nd Chip in at 56:59, followed by Bruce Aldrich in 58:50.

There were a number of tremendous runs out there--Great Job Chips!
John
