July 4th Volunteers Needed!

We're still looking for volunteers to commit to helping with the July 4th Five Miler, in River Park. Please let Ed Randolph know if you can be there. His email for this is: July_4th_5miler@comcast.net (clever huh!). We should be all cleaned up by 10:30 that morning, so you'll have plenty of time for additional July 4th activities. Thanks!

Which Chip has the fastest marathon time so far in 2007?

Mark Murray sez:

Congratulations to Kirsten Schneider who ran 2:55:15 this morning at Grandma’s, to move atop the Chips leader board for the year in the marathon. Her time was less than a minute faster than Mary Coordt’s 2:55:40 at Napa, and Ed Randolph’s 2:56:09 at Boston.

I believe that is a PR for Kirsten, who ran 2:57:23 at the CIM. Something tells me that the crowd of folks looking to go under 2:50 at CIM this year just got bigger.

July 4th Five-Miler!

The Buffalo Chips have taken over the job of organizing the 4th of July 5 Miler. This is a free race in River Park that has been a great community event for years. Since it is a free race we are going to keep things very simple. However, we still need volunteers to help with set up, aid stations, and course monitoring.

Volunteering for this race will be a great way to spend a short amount of time 4th of July morning. We need some people to help during the race itself, but if you want to run the race we can use your help before and after.

Please email Ed Randolph if you can help.

Thanks!

Chips Glamor Boy!

If you subscribe to Ultrarunning Magazine, you'll likely notice your fellow Chip Erik Skaden gracing this month's cover! Congratulations Erik and good luck at this year's Western States 100!
