Buffalo Chips Weekly News Update

Chips Perform Well at Redding 10 Miler

Led by Barbara Miller's FIRST PLACE division award and Linda Hall's second, the Herd showed some solid performances in the older age divisions as this annual PA-USATF Grand Prix event on Saturday. The men's group was led by Doug Braasch at around 76 minutes with support from Dennis Scott, Joel Contreras, and Gary Lotspeich. Mike Schwartz, Shanna Fanning and Lindsay Pears-Dickson were also there for additional possible team construction. Several of the youth chips were also there under the attention of Coach George Paddeck.

Mark Lantz & Rena Schumann
AWESOME at Napa Marathon

Under very challenging conditions of rain, cold and headwinds of 25-30 mph, the participants at this year's Napa Marathon were definitely "tested" and the finishers clearly earned their medal.

Top Chip performances of the day clearly were earned by Mark Lantz at 2:51 with a near PR under terrible conditions. This writer would credit such a finish to more like a 2:46 clocking on a faster and more nurturing course like CIM. Rena Schumann went out hard with a 3:16 finish, and stayed solid whole way with a strong finish to also close at only 3 minutes off her 2005 CIM time. Jim Fischer was second in the 65-69 division with a solid 4:03 and Chris Iwahashi won the 50-54 division with a 3:43 shivering finish. ski Pisarski, a Chips Lifetime member and Silver State based 60 year old turned a commendable 3:56.

I am sure there were other Chips at both the Redding and Napa events, but my apologies for any and all I have missed.
