At the Races

This is not a comprehensive list, but there have been several races the past couple of weekends and a few notable results.

Chicago Marathon
The weekend before last saw at least two Chips take on the Chicago Marathon. First Chip (and first Sacramento area runner) in was Board Member Jenny Hitchings, who ran a speedy 3:03. Next in was Bruce Yonehiro who ran 3:23.

This weekend saw Chips running races from Sea to Shining Sea.

Marine Corps Marathon (Washington, D.C.):
Ernest Takahashi ducked under the four-hour mark with a 3:59:58 finish, fast enough for a ninth place Super Senior finish.

Four Bridges Half Marathon
For the Men, the first Chip, and 2nd place senior, was Dennis Early with a brisk 1:27. He was chased in, 30-seconds later, by John Nichols, also at 1:27. Bob Fredenburg followed in 1:34, Shane Curren in 1:37, and Dennis Zilaff (I'll give you the chip time.) in 1:48.

For the women, the first Chip and 1st place age group finish goes to the tireless Carolyn McCarter, coming in at 1:37. Cynci Calvin finished a Super Senior 2nd in 2:05.

Grape Stomp Half Marathon (Livermore)
It would appear a few Chips snuck off for a run in scenic Livermore. First female, and 4th overall, was Mary Coordt who ran 1:22. Husband Dave Michel came in a bit later in 1:38. Chris Iwahashi finished a Senior 2nd in 1:44.

Great job, Chips! My sincere apologies to any I may have missed.
John Blue
