The March issue of ULTRARUNNING magazine includes the the 2006 North American Ultra Lists, showing top racers and races of the year. It turns out that Mary Coordt's 3:35:24 time for the 2006 Jed Smith 50K was the fastest time of the year for all of North America! There's even a nice picture of Mary (in a Buffalo Chips singlet, naturally). Way to go Mary!
The top-30 women (in the 50K) also included Rena Schumann (15th) and "Kristen" Schneider (28th). Rena also picked up the 10th fastest 50 mile time for her 7:39 at AR50.
Top 50K men included Erik Skaden (11th) for his 3:30 Jed Smith time and Mark Lantz (28th) for 3:39 at the same race. At the 50 mile distance, Erik Skaden ran the 14th fastest North America time with 6:24 at AR50.
Great job Chips!
